Netflix Binge: Riverdale vs 13 Reasons Why

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve most likely heard of both Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why. It’s true you can’t scroll through any form of social media without seeing a mention of at least one of them.

We all love a good Netflix binge watching session, but if you’re on the hunt for a new series then look no further than these two new teen dramas, guaranteed to have you binge-watching and bulk-popcorn-eating until the early morn!

If you love a good love triangle, mystery and and all the usual drama that comes along with high school, this is the show for you. Set in the town of the same name, Riverdale is based on characters from Archie Comics and revolves around the mystery death of high school quarterback Jason Blossom over the Summer.

The show’s main characters find themselves in a love triangle with Betty Cooper, the girl next door and longtime friend of Archie and Veronica Lodge, the new girl in town both vying for Archie’s affections.

There’s plenty of twists along the way to keep you well and truly hooked on this show, and with teasers already coming out for Season 2 we can’t wait to see where the end of Season 1 takes us! There’s nothing quite like a good mystery to keep you glued to your bed watching episode after episode.

An added incentive to watch Riverdale is the inclusion of Cole Sprouse, who most of us remember as one of the twins from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Well he has well and truly grown up and trust me, it’s a good thing! After all, every show needs some eye candy right?

The other show you probably can’t stop hearing about is 13 Reasons Why, another high school drama but this time centred on the death of Hannah Baker and the tapes she sends to those who she believes were responsible for her death.

As with all teen shows, 13 Reasons Why has the usual high school drama but keeps you hooked with hints of what will happen in the next episodes and a clever focus on one character for each episode.

The show has all the usual high school stereotypes – the jock, the cheerleader, the class president and the nerd, but each of these characters are linked by the death of the main character Hannah. 13 Reasons Why will have you desperate to find out each of the 13 reasons, and has a particularly clever way of keeping you glued to your laptop or TV.

Both of these Netflix shows are seriously addictive and will have you watching for hours on end (trust us, we’ve been there!) Whilst Riverdale is all about the mystery of how Jason died, the suspense in 13 Reasons Why will keep you hooked. Will their dirty little secrets come out, or will they all be able to keep their reputations intact?

If you’re feeling ready to binge watch a whole series at once then we vote 13 Reasons Why, but if you have the patience to wait for episodes to be released a week at a time, then Riverdale is the way to go!

So grab your snacks, put on your favourite sweatpants and settle in because boy does Netflix have some addictive shows ready for you…!
