Our Hottest 100 Predictions and Party Playlist!

Streuth! Roll our your eskies, bust out your pluggers and start saving your pennies for tacky temporary tattoos… because it’s almost that time of the year again. Of course Australia Day is monumental in itself (I mean who doesn’t enjoy getting black out drunk in the middle of a 30 degree day and almost drowning in your mate’s pool), though a fair chunk of us are more excited for another event that takes place on the same day…

The annual Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown: when listeners vote online for their favourite songs of 2016 and all is revealed in a countdown that begins at midday AEDT on the 26th. There’s some seriously tough competition this year and we think we’ve possibly narrowed it down to the top 10 (hot hint: Taytay Swift didn’t make the cut yet again)

prediction

Flume – Never Be Like You

Adore – Amy Shark

Jungle – Tash Sultana

Viceroy – Violent Soho

Believe (Like a Version) DMAs

Thick as Thieves – Temper Trap

Redbone – Childish Gambino

Starboy – The Weeknd

Say It – Flume

Satan – D.D Dumbo

We predict that indie pop artist from the Gold Coast Amy Shark is going to give Sydney local Flume a run for his money for top spot. Our stand out favourite has to definitely be Tash Sultana: a 21-year-old self-taught, former addict from Melbourne who has completely captivated the nation. If these three can snag a spot in the top 5 with Violent Soho and DMAs, then it’s been a fair dinkum ripper of a year for Aussie music.

Who are you going to vote for?
