Ahh Paris, the city of love! It’s home to the stunningly beautiful Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe! You’ll find locals and tourists alike, riding down pebbled streets on bikes with a baguette, bottle of rose and a casing of macarons in the front basket. But, for one week every year, the historic old city turns into the capital of fashion. The world’s most renowned celebrities, models, designers, and make-up artists flood to the city, to view the most exclusive pre-season fashion shows. Paris Fashion Week SS’17, in true Parisian style, hosted spectacular runway shows and elegant after parties! Take a look at our three favourite trends runway trends!
The Tutu Trend
Ballet has always been a form of art, and Paris Fashion Week has taken full advantage of the beauty of a tutu! Miu Miu brought brought extravagant tulle tutu pieces to the runway. Her models were crowned with small tiaras and hairpieces, epitomising the graceful balletic look! Louis Vuitton took a modern approach to the tutu with simple sheer chiffon fabrics in monochrome tones. Paris Fashion Week saw an array of inspiration from the tutu, with models even donning strap up heels like real-life pointe shoes. The tutu gave each show a touch of femininity and lightness. We adore it!
The Sleepwear Trend
The sexy sleepwear trend was in full throttle at Paris Fashion Week. The designers incorporated silk and satin in all forms to create slip dresses, bralettes, and nightgowns. Most garments had lace detailing, and channelled ivory or off-white tones. One thing is for sure, the designers dared to bare, giving off a vibe of sensuality on the runway. Givenchy and Celine paved the way for the lingerie trend, and we cannot wait to run out and purchase some beautiful undergarments!
The Military Trend
We love a good uniform…but what we love more was Paris Fashion Week’s take on the military trend! Bomber jackets, structured mini skirts, and combat boots took full form. The khaki tones and leather accessories gave a sense of power on the runway. The models were strutting the runway in uniformed fashion and had bold red lips which introduced some contrast. Both Celine and Versace took full advantage of the trend! We’re off to shop for some khaki, so we can too can look like modern day sexy soldiers!
