Ahh Milan, sounds a like dream doesn’t it? There is something magical about the historic Italian cathedrals, cobbled streets, and the waft of authentic pizza, pasta, and red wine! But for one week every year, the beautiful old city turns into the epitome of high fashion! It becomes home to the world’s most renowned designers, makeup artists, celebrities, and models for Milan Fashion Week! The world’s largest fashion capital sure doesn’t disappoint, does it!? Now that it’s come to a wrap, let’s take a look back on our three favourite trends from Milan Fashion Week SS’17!
Don’t believe for a second that active wear is going to go out of fashion, because it sure won’t! Not only have we spotted the trend in Milan, but in New York too! Milan brought sport inspired leggings, luxe tracksuits and athletic bomber jackets to the table! The athleisure gear followed a deep plum and azure colour trend, and the models were styled with sleek hair or high pony tails, epitomising the ‘off-duty model look.’ Whoever thought sporty styles were boring, think again, because Milan Fashion Week took fully advantage of structured athletic coats with sequin and lace detailing! Keep an eye out, the sport luxe trend is going to be bigger and better in 2017!
The bralette trend was spotted in nearly all, if not every, fashion show in Milan! The bralette is such a sensible garment, but we saw a whole new and unique side to them during Milan Fashion Week! Prada stole the stage with their reverse styling, using bralettes more as an accessory rather than an undergarment. And they weren’t just plain either, they were ruffled and glittered and structured! Robert Cavlli’s designs took a sexier approach by incorporating black lace detailing and choker chain accessories donned by the models! Now is your time to pick up on the trend, because bralettes are set to be the newest wardrobe staple!
There is something special about wavy hair, bold earthy colours, and flowy dresses that just have us wishing for a tropical getaway! And that’s exactly what Milan Fashion Week made us feel! The Bohemian trend was brought to the runway with floor sweeping day dresses, ombre colours, loose ruffles, and models wearing ivory grecian accessories. We were awed with Missoni’s flawless pieces of art and adored Albert Ferretti’s seventies inspired organza and chiffon creations! Bohemian is back, and we’re loving it!
