Destination: Ibiza! Get The Inside Scoop

We asked our photographer, Grace Markham, about some hot tips for travelling around Ibiza and Formentera Island, plus some things to check out. Ibiza and Formentera Island.

How to get there?

You can only get to Formentera by boat/ferry. The closest airport is Ibiza, from there grab a cab or book a transfer to Ibiza Port where you can take a high-speed ferry or boat. Journey time from Ibiza to Formentera is approx 30 minutes.

Who should travel here?

Groups of friends, couples, families.

What’s it like?

Ibiza offers different experiences, it’s well known for its lively nightlife scene in Ibiza Town and Sant Antoni so if you’re after a party-filled holiday then it’s the place to be. Whilst many families do opt for a more chilled experience and stay in Es Caná beach or Las Salinas Beach.

Best thing to see?

Take a look around Ibiza old town, cute little streets with beautiful shops. Formentera island is stunning so take a boat trip out there or better still, stay on the island.

Best place to eat?

Plenty of laneway restaurants in Ibiza town.

Best cafe?

Best place to drink?

Many beach bars and pool bars along Playa d’en Bossa.

What to pack?

Swimwear, beachwear, party outfits, sunscreen, glitter!

Things to do?

Visit Formentera, go to a boat party, watch the sunset on the beach, have a relaxing spa day, watch or participate in some water sports, do a walking tour, hit up the nightclubs or check out San Antonio!

Local secret?

I never went here but wish I did: Visit the Hacienda Na Xamena (, for its views. Set into the cliffs, it is the perfect place to enjoy a cool glass of sangria in the open-air bar and follow the scarlet sun as it slowly sinks beyond the sea.
